TAKHTE SOLEIMAN - world heritage site
ipuenktchen, 11:42h
THU in the very early morning ipue met her pottery buddies at 5.3o AM and they left by bus for TAKHTE SOLEIMAN - the world heritage site since 2oo3, and she took us - POSSY & CROSSY - with her and we were soooo excited!!!!!
http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1077
the site was rediscovered by a British traveller in 1819, followed by others. then in 1937 the site had been photographed and in 1958 explored by Swedish archaeologists, finally between 1959 und 1977 takhte soleiman was the most important excavating place of the german archaeological museum and for the first time systematically worked on!! still 30 years ago there was nothing and even not any road with asphalt!!
now we were quite astonished to find several touristic places on the road between the village of takhte soleiman and the site, as there is a restaurant, public WC and filling station, next a hot spring area, and at the opposite they started newly to build a high class hotel!!!!!!!!!
inside the bus....
the main part in north with fire-temple and sassanid-palace
for a potter the most amazing thing of this site are the *zarinfam* luster tiles in the ancient palace made in their own tiles workshop!! although they are kept nowadays in the abgineh museum in tehran!!
in the takhte soleiman museum you may see some copies!
(NOT that beautiful like the original tiles!!!)
we had been a group of more than 20, all very lively and comfortable with each other, and we had a great team caring for us - and so we spent two really great days in this magic *end-of-the-world-place*!!!
here you may see in the background a piece of the wall at the eastside around the 10-ha-area! the site is situated at an attitude of about 2.2oo m and the mountains around are about 3.3oo m high!
the lake has about 8o m diameter and is about 6o m deep! there is not any animal into because it's a spring lake and the temperature in summer and winter is the same: 21 degrees Celsius!
until now we've in IR TWELVE world heritage sites, but up from tomorrow for the next 1o days the unesco will held the 35 th session and will announce two more sites from IR!!!
lucky iran!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))
at FRI near midnight we got home, tired but happy!!! :-)
