I got so happy when I had a look in my mailbox and my dear friend from former times in 'feierabend' sent an e-mail to remember the 1. advent and added again my long time favorite pic from the hannover railwaystation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as other x-mas-customs with the tree or Advent wreath with candles or Advent calendary and so on is this for ppl who aren't that much in, a kind of lightening of the darker season - like the customs around shabe yalda, winter solstice.......

the advent wreath got established by johann hinrich wichern in 1838... and even the advent calendary got printed for its first time in 1902 by a hamburg publisher.. both started from northern germany!!! yeahhhh.. I love them both a lot!!!!!
